SIR,—N0, I think we - should need very clear evidence of
its military value before we allowed a single shell to explode in Rome. Allow me to support our friend " Janus " in his plea for departed greatness and to urge its claim as a Holy City dear to many millions of our fellow subjects. Should we who guaranteed the sanctity of the Holy Cities of Arabia feel anything less than abhorrence for the destruction of the only Holy City in Europe.
