Sinatra deserves better

Sir: I hope that Philip Hensher's incisive review of Michael Freedland's execrable

LETTERS

biography of Frank Sinatra (Books, 15 November) will save some readers from wasting 20 quid. However, he might like to know that All or Nothing at All, Donald Clarke's recently published biography of the legendary crooner, published by Mac- millan at £20, has all the qualities Hensher wishes for: it is stylishly written, with intelli- gence and honesty, by an author who clear- ly cares deeply about the integrity and pre- sentation of his subject. Perhaps this letter, if printed, will provide a pleasant antidote for those among us who have swallowed Freedland's bitter pill.
