The announcement that a ticket-office common to all the four

great railways has just been opened near Paddington seems curiously belated. For years past there have been " consolidated ticket offices" in different parts of New York and other American cities where you could buy tickets and make reservations of seats and sleeping-berths on any one of the lines serving that particular centre.
