Friends in Low Places
SIR,—Your competitive-minded readers might like to know that we are running a competition based on Simon Raven's novel Friends in Low Places, which was reviewed in the Spectator last week. Readers are invited to send a 750 to 1,000-word criticism of this novel to us for judgment by Malcolm Muggeridge and Brigid Brophy. The Café Royal is giving a dinner for the winner, judges and author, at which £50 worth of book tokens will be distributed. Competitors are asked to send their entries together with (I am afraid) the price clipped off the jacket to us at this address.
