Sia,—In Randolph Churchill's letter quoted by Christopher Booker last week,
young ladies on the staff of the Queen are accused of ignorance possibly caused by being insufficiently Well travelled.
Few of us can hope to be as well travelled as Mr. Churchill, but I would have thought it fairly common knowledge that most French hotels do not supply soap. In the Queen column referred to, this trivial fact seems to have amazed Mr. Churchill. I am sure the cultural attaché at the French Embassy could have forewarned him, even if Larotesse draws a veil over this unhygienic omission.
