The population of Paris is now slightly above half that
of London,—namely, 1,667,841, and has as near as possible doubled since 1832,—that, is in 33 years,—when London had exactly the population which Paris has now. It seems therefore that the two great capitals are increasing at an equal rate, but Paris, if anything, the faster,—as London scarcely exceeds 3,000,000 yet, even allow- ing for the increase since 1861.
