Both Houses of Parliament sat today, at twelve o'clock. In

the House of Lords, the Poor-law Amendment Continuance Bill, the Fisheries (Ireland) Bill, and several private bills, were brought up from the Com- mons, and read a first time ; the Poor-law Bill to be read a second time on Tuesday. The House adjourned soon afterwards, till Monday.

In the House of Commons, the order of the day was moved for going into Committee on the Copyright of Designs Bill. Mr. MARK PHILIPS objected to a measure of so much importance being discussed on a Saturday, and said that if it were persisted with, he should move that the House be counted out ; which he did. There were only twenty Members present at the time ; but the " division-bell " being rung vio- lently, several ran in, and the " House " was saved. The bill passed through Committee, after a tedious conversation ; and was ordered to be reported on Monday. After some conversation, Lord STANLEY agreed to postpone the Com- mittee on the Newfoundland Bill, until Wednesday ; Mr. O'CormELL having ten minutes before received a petition against the bill from the Delegates of the House of Assembly of Newfoundland.

Some other measures were forwarded a stage ; and Mr. SHARMAN CRAWFORD gave notice that on Monday he should call the attention of the House to the distressed state of Ireland. The House adjourned at half-past two o'clock.
