Whitaker's Naval and Military Directory, 1898. (Whitaker and Sons.)—This is

a new publication, which may be briefly described as a very handy "Army List" and "Navy List" in one. Mr. Laird Clowes has written an historical account of the Navy, and the same has been done for the Army by a "well- known officer on the Active List." All ships in commission, regiments at home or abroad, the Indian Army, Colonial forces, &c., are given, and there is a general index of names.
