WHEN THE HEAD of any of the nationalised industries leaves,
or is asked to leave, his job, my normal reaction is of pleasure. His successor is unlikely to be more incompetent. Sir Miles Thomas is the only exception I can call to mind; for he has given BOAC a character so distinctive that one would hardly know it was nationalised.
