ALL ROUND THE CLOCK

SIR,—The mention by Leslie Adrian in 'Consuming Interest' of the twenty-four-hours-a-day travel ser- vice given by Mr. Cavendish of L. W. Morland might give some readers the impression that such a service is an original idea. My company has been offering such a service for about fourteen years to our clients, among whom we number most of the important newspapers published in London. Those of our clients who are likely to need this service have the home telephone numbers of six of our staff—all of whom are competent to give travel ser- vice. including the provision of foreign exchange, out of normal hours.

'Necessity is the mother of invention' and in our case 'necessity' was the requirement to cover the demands of newspapers. I suspect that 'necessity' in the case of Mr. Cavendish is the re- quirement to offer a service comparable to that of other travel agents (there are others, too, besides ourselves, who offer this special service!).
