The Tangier correspondent of the Times says that there is
no doubt that Abdel Krim intends to make his main effort in Morocco against the French. So far the French have done well, but the length of the front and the nature of the country make the French task as difficult as the British task was in the Boer War. The prospect, therefore, is causing some anxiety though Abdel Krim's attack in force is not expected immediately. On Wednesday the French Prime Minister, M. Painleve, exhorted his countrymen to have confidence in the French troops and to turn a deaf car to reports of imagin- ary disasters. He attributed certain reports to British agencies and remarked that the object of them was " only too apparent." For our part we have not come across anything but sympathy with the French in their resistance to Abdel Krim's unprovoked attack.
