Sting in the tail

Sir: Mr Waterfield's quotation (Letters, 2 May) of the episode of the woman taken in adultery is incomplete. The woman's accusers indeed retired ashamed. Jesus then said, 'Neither do I condemn thee', adding, most significantly, 'Go, and sin no more.' Is it odd, or merely convenient, that this injunction should be so often forgot- ten?
