Proops maligned
Sir: Thank God Mary Kenny doesn't claim to be one of her model agony aunts because • then she, according to her, would be one of our moral philosophers. As it is, in her arti- cle in the issue of 16 November (`He likes porn? Then join in'), she is merely a vulgar, cowardly, dyed-in-the-wool, failed assassin of a posthumous character.
Marjorie Proops brought comfort, guid- ance and answers to hundreds of thousands of confused ordinary people. And that, I would contend, is probably a great deal more good than Miss Kenny has ever done with her inflexible remoteness from, and misunderstanding of, the world we live in. Attempting to poison Proops's reputation now is odious.
To do so by advancing such fixed, out-of- touch and out-of-date, self-righteous, authoritarian, narrow-minded, bigoted views increases the offence. Such personal and vindictive stuff is good only for low blood-pressure, the wastepaper-basket and for you, sir, to reflect upon your choice of contributors.
