A cheerful, chatty expedition to East and Central Africa, by an author who is detached about black men and rather sardonic about the whites, who shot an elephant illegally and was tried for the offence, and writes in a happy. maga- zine-article sort of way about the strange sights, sounds and smells of a continent that he may or may not have understood, but certainly enjoyed.
