VAT and the arts
From Andrew Faulds MP
Sir: To Will Waspe's query (August 10): yes, I do believe I would have been more persuasive with the Chancellor than the present Under Secretary for the Arts. Had I not got three or four million of VAT lifted off the arts in a total figure of £500 million of VAT cuts, I would have resigned. The conduct of the job matters more than the post.
