Stories from Xenophon. Retold by H. L. Havell, B.A. (G.
G. Harrap and Co. ls. 6d.)—Mr. Havell goes for his stories to the "Hellenica," carrying on the narrative down to the return of Thrasybulus and the fall of the Thirty, to the "Anabasis," and to the "Memorabilia." Here there is plenty of material, which he uses very well. The Socrates of Xenophon is hardly made as much of as might be the case. Some think that he is more like the real man than is the Platonic picture.
