Mrs. Philip Martineau has written a very pleasant book in
Caviare to Candy (Cobden Sanderson, 7s. .6d.). There are menus here from all parts of the world, and the first chapter is entitled "Cooks, Mistresses and Imagination." She mentions Boston sal&ds : a word of warning is needed to those
of delicate digestions to beware of those insidioui little balls of cream cheese with which they are adorned. We can thoroughly recommend this excellent book : its reasonable price should make it popular.
