SHARE PUSHING.
It was with considerable satisfaction that the City noted the attention given in Parliament last week to discussing the evils of share pushing. Moreover, the Debate was the more satis- factory in the sense that it drew from the Government a definite statement that legislation for dealing with the matter was under active consideration and would be introduced as soon as possible. In the opinion of the City, it should certainly receive the earliest possible attention in the new Session, for, while it may be comforting to know that quite recently a number of these share pushers have dealt with by the Courts, that fact only emphasises the necessity for tightening-up legislation. Admittedly, the difficulty is to achieve this without enacting legislation calculated to restrain legitimate financial and commercial activities.
