Sir: So Miss Connell (3 December) claims that Menachem , Begin in his book The Revole(pp 162-165), referring to the battle af Deir Yassin, wrote: 'The massacre was not only justified but there would not have been a state of Israel without the victory at Deir Yassin'. As she stated that I 'obviously cannot have read Menachem Begin's own words' 1, suitably chastened, turned up her reference and found 'The enemy propaganda was designed to besmirch our name'. But the words she 'quotes': they are just not there.
