Dean Close has proposed as the best remedy for railway
un- punctuality to withdraw the accommodation recently given to third-class passengers,—that of having carriages provided in the fast trains. Dean Close's godly jealousy for the comfort and convenience of " respectable " people, will not increase the popu- larity of the Church. Publicans and sinners will hardly listen devoutly to a preacher who, though glad indeed to meet them in heaven, is so evidently reluctant to travel with them on earth.
