Common sense about colour
Sir: I read with interest Mr James Mottram's letter of 10 January, particularly the paragraph referring to intermarriage between races, 'from which no certain benefit derives and one which is irreversible.'
In my short experience of being acquainted with English girls, approximately 150. vary- ing from a dustman's daughter to a xcn's daughter, I have observed and drawn the following conclusions: (1) An English girl does not give the respect to her husband that is necessary.
(2) She does not have the potential or train- ing in creating a home and raising a family.
(3) She lacks these and many other qualities because the environment has made her career- conscious. After all, who wants a career girl for a wife? The original intention was for a girl to be a helpmate and companion.
As I am not English I pass on these con- clusions. For myself I have found these attributes in a girl from Ceylon. All contribu- tions to my passage to my native land, Wales, will be gratefully received.
