WRONG UNION
MR JOHN Taylor, the Ulster Unionist MP and MEP, has resigned his association with the Conservative Party in the European Parliament. This, in view of the Hillsbor- ough Agreement, is understandable though sad. What is absurd and worse than absurd, however, is his decision to join the group known as the European Right, which consists of M. Le Pen's French fascists, the Italian fascists and one suppor- ter of the Greek colonels. By choosing such company, Mr Taylor makes the Un- ionists look like fools, and nasty fools at that. He also makes it much more difficult for the Unionists to deal with Labour in the event of a hung Parliament. No matter how desperately Labour struggles for power, it will be embarrassed to deal with men associated with the most extreme right- wing parties represented in any European democracy.
