A Study of Social and Constitutional Tendencies in the Bark
Years of Edward III. is the title of a thesis by Miss Dorothy Hughes (Hodder and Stoughton for the University of London Press, 2s, 6d. net). Owing to the expense of the war against France, Edward III. became involved in great financial difficulties, which led to an acute constitutional crisis in the years 1340-41. Miss Hughes deals with the facts of this crisis and of Edward's struggle with Stratford, Archbishop of Canterbury, with copious references to the original authorities.
