Mr. Lloyd George next turned to the question of German
reparation, and related how the Germans had after all signed the Allied proposal with regard to coal. Six million tons are to be delivered between the beginning of August and the end of October, and in the event of failure further German territory may be occupied. In describing the German attitude towards reparation as a whole, Mr. Lloyd George was able to say that the Germans had submitted a "very able document" which contained "clear proof that the Germans had grappled with the problem and were making a real effort to meet it."
