INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL THE coming International Musical Festi- val to
be held at Lucerne this summer is causing keen interest in the musical world. An outstanding feature will be a particularly interesting concert conducted by Maestro Arturo Toscanini, the world-famous orches- tra conductor, on August 25th. This exceptional performance will be given in the magnificent natural park in front of Wagner's house at Tribschen ; here the great Bayreuth Master lived from 1866 to 1872 ; here he finished writing the Meistersinger and composed Siegfried and the GOtterdanunerung.
The central item of the Programme will be the Siegfried Idyll, which was performed for the first time at Tribschen under Wagner himself. An excellent orchestra with the co-operation of such well-known musicians as Adolf Busch as leading first violin, the Busch-Quartet, Professor Polo from Milan and other first-class musicians will be placed at the disposal of Toscanini.
All who know Toscanini as a conductor, with his extraordinary power to make music live, and those who have followed the music critics of his last two concerts at the B.B.C. Festival, will readily appreciate what this performance, in such surroundings, promises to the hearer. It is indeed with high expec- tation that the musical world is awaiting this event.
