Wright stuff
Sir: In his article about the former Speaker of the House of Representatives Jim Wright (`The wrong stuff, 27 May), Ambrose 'Honestly, Mildred, flying is as safe as cross- ing the road.' Evans-Pritchard states parenthetically that former Attorney General Edwin Meese was 'found innocent'. The report of the special prosecutor who investigated Mr Meese concluded that Mr Meese had com- mitted numerous violations of ethical stan- dards, but that there was not enough evidence of criminal conduct to justify his indictment. Not being indicted does not equal being found innocent.
