Burdett's Hospitals and Charities. By Sir H. Burdett, K.C.B. (Scientific

Press. 6s. net.)—Sir H. Burdett returns—and is quite right in returning—to the subject of hospital expenditure. The income of ninety-four voluntary hospitals in the county of London has increased from 4807,705 in 1894 to X1,331,690 in 1903, while their expenditure was £837,725 and 41,341,641. There are other articles on hospitals in the United States and the cost of nursing, with the usual statistics for Metropolitan and provincial insti- tutions.
