Mark and mother
Sir: Mr Worsthorne is right (17 March) in thinking that British women would have denounced Mrs Thatcher if she had not supported her son, and it is quite likely that the Opposition may be antagonising many women voters by their savage insults to a mother. In the French Revolution, Citizen Hebert hurled insults at Marie Antoinette of a nature that not even Mr Dalyell would stoop to. and when they were reported to Robespierre, his reaction was 'The fool! He will set the women of France against us!' So he sent Hebert to the guillotine.
