Sensibly dressed
Sir: All of us deplore Gordon Brown's deci- sion not to wear a white tie at the Mansion House dinner, but Taki has chosen a strange example to illustrate his point (High life, 10 May). 'Can you imagine Win- ston Churchill in a track suit?' he asks. Eas- ily. He spent most of the war dressed in a red velvet boiler suit — very similar to the garment worn by joggers today.
