A considerable number of journeymen boot and shoemakers held a meeting on Wednesday evening, at the Mechanics' Institution, to take measures to maintain a " strike " against the masters in the trade. The masters, it seems, are attempting to enforce a reduction of one- third in the wages of their journeymen, which now range from 18s. to 24s. a week. Resolutions were passed pledging the meeting to resist- mice, and recommending a public subscription to assist the parties to the "strike."
