Seoul is the singular choice for the ....,bankers' trade fair — officially, the International Monetary Fund meetings — next year. Already bankers are bobbing to and fro, on reconnaissance, looking for villas to let, or tea-houses where they can stage elegant receptions for their custom- ers, competitors, and general freeloaders. Language will be a difficulty, and this may explain the report which a City banker brings back. He maintains (and I cannot verify) that he came across an airline poster, whose message was: 'Coming to the IMF? Next year, fly Aeroflot — and have the MiGs on your side.'
