AN UNFAMILIAR INSECT.
[To THE EDITOR OF THE " Sezertroa."3 • Sta,—The moth described by your correspondent answers fairly accurately to Macroglossa stellatarum, the humming-bird hawk-moth. It is a very interesting sight to see it probing the flowers with its very long proboscis. It amused me one autumn at Cannes to watch this moth flying round the room and endeavouring to extract honey from the brightly painted flowers on the frieze of the wallpaper.—I am, Sir, &c.,
