After all, all that is required is to emphasize a fact which has long been a truism. Most of us heard in the nursery what might be called " The Child's Agricultural Sermon "—not a bad parody of a sermon either, with its warning, its exposition, and its ambiguously attached exhortation at the end :—
" Dearly beloved brethren, it surely is a sin When you peel potatoes to throw away the akin. The skins feed the pigs and the-pigs feed us, Dearly beloved brethren, it must be ever thus."
