SIR,—It might have been well had Mr. Stead mentioned the date of publication of the seventeenth volume of "Herzog." My copy reached me after the proofs of the article on Pfleiderer were out of my hands. What was said about " Herzog " was true when written. In the Arachlrtige there is a good article on Butler ; why was there not an article in the first edition, and why was there not one in the proper place in the second edition ?
