WATT'S WAIT •
SIR.—My wife has read Mr. B. Duncan's letter and has accused me of ov.A-spendine. Instead of the 1,000-watt fire, costing £I, that I recently bought, she insists that I should have bought ten 100-watt light bulbs for 15s. She points out that Mr. Duncan states that it is the wattage that gives the heat. I have always thought that it is not the watts you use but the method in which they are used that is important. Surely the efficiency of any form of electric heating depends on the amount of heat, produced in the current conductor, transferred to the surrounding medium?
