Lord MELBOURNE and the Commissioners of Police are engaged in
sifting the evidence produced on the late inquest against the Police, much of which they hope to disprove. The leaders of the meeting were, it is said, well known to them but had done nothing previous to the ass2mbly on Monday week. This is assigned as the reason for not quietly preventing the meeting from taking place. And a pretty rea- son it is.
