Festival fringe
Sir: Rodney Milnes takes a keek at Edinburgh Festival and Fringe audiences and secretly plans of jumbling up the tickets but I think that he has just let dab that he gets his for free — the average Festival seat costs the public £2.60 against the Fringe at 40p and any apartheid is simply in the pocket of the beholder. At that kind of money, half the Fringe audiences are already Edinburgh folk (blue-rinsed or no) and, forbye, they and our visitors (hairy or no) can already enjoy the classical as well as the experimental across the whole Fringe programme alone.
Maybe not all the lighthearted blethers and aberrations of reviewers can be traced to the fact that they never need to bother about the cost of their seats but I have a secret plan .. . John Milligan Administrator, Festival Fringe Society, Royal Mile Centre, High Street, Edinburgh.
