Sir: A propos Ferdinand Mount on infla- tion: Germany once had a political head who placed sound money above all else. His name was Heinrich Bruning, Reich Chancellor 1930-1932. He certainly kept the mark very stable. Eventually the Ger- man people got fed up with it all and let someone else have a try.
