of September 11) that Mr. Davies has found so di tressing to write, if he was indeed, as you state. t author of some of the remarks that you printed 0 September 1. It is more than distressing; it profoundly disturbing.

I, among many, am indebted to a Univers' Appointments Board (Oxford's, in my case), but ha one suspected that comments of this nature were pt mitted, how many of us would have gone near then" Articles and letters will not, alas, mend intoleran But allow me to say that at least one person does fe fiercely on this matter, and is shocked that the olio did not result in a new secretary and several ne members for the Cambridge Board.—Yours fait
