It may be recollected, that when MINA some time ago

made his abortive attempt on the Northern frontier of Spain, a diver- sion was talked of as intended to be made by General TORRIJOS at Gibraltar. A diversion, or rather a divertissement, it has been. After a great deal of delay and preparation, the Liberals marched towards Algesiras. In the neighbourhood of the lines, they were met by a body of FERDINAND'S troops, instantly defeated, in sight of the garrison of the Rock, and compelled to scamper back under the guns, to shelter themselves from destruction. A tem- porary suspension of communication has been the result of this affair ; but it is not supposed it will continue for above a few days.
