THE END OF SCRUTINY
Sitt,—It was with very deep regret that I learnt receetly that Scrutiny was to cease publication. Those of us who teach at universities remote from the centres of culture are particularly dependent. on the printed word to keep us in contact with the best critical standards of the day. Even those who have often disagreed with the views expressed in Scrutiny must acknowledge that it has done more than any other journal to maintain those standards. It is tragic that it should be allowed to die. Cannot something be done, even now, to keep it alive ?—Yours faithfully,
