Sir: It was quite chilling to read Leon Wieseltier's letter
in your paper last week (Letters, 19 November). How ironic that the authentic voice of fascism should be heard from such a quarter. The word has virtually ceased to have any meaning, except as a general term of abuse, but I cannot find a better one.
