BBC
Sir: London Weekend Television enjoyed the suggestion that it is, in Martyn Harris' words, central to the BBC's conception of itself (`. . the BBC exists to make pro- grammes like Upstairs Downstairs, and its successor The House of Eliott', Arts, 28 September). However, just in case some of your readers are in any doubt — I know Martyn Harris knew and meant what he was saying — Upstairs Downstairs was made by LWT.
