"L. P." writes to the Times, imploring contributions towards the
" Mothers' Kitchens" of Blackburn. Although the dis- tress has decreased, it will still be terrible this winter, and the health of the operatives is beginning to give way. There are signs of incipient consumption and bronchial affections among them, arising from over-light clothing and insufficient nourishment. The kitchens, if supported, will supply the latter, and for the former " L. P." asks donations of old clothes, flannel, or other warm articles.
