The Last Buccaneer. By L. Cope Cornford. (W. Heinemann. 62.)—This
is a story which we may describe as of the "gift-book" kind. It is a little more strongly flavoured, perhaps, than that sort of tale commonly is, but it is essentially similar. It is only fair to say that it is a very favourable specimen. The "last buccaneer" is a wonderful figure, quite a fitting representative of a remarkable family, and coming to a very striking end. The last sight that we are permitted to have of Mr. Murch is one that will not easily be forgotten. The figures and properties generally are familiar, but we may say that they are admirably handled.
