We have no fault to find with the music of this sonesonsidered simply as a vocal air ; it is written with the skill and ease of a prac- tised musician. But regarded as sacred music—as an alliance of musical sounds to the language of devout supplication—nothing can be 'lore ill-suited and offensive. It would be a valuable addition to a modem Italian opera, few of which contain a song of equal merit ; and to Signor COSTA'S care we recommend the composer to consign it. The pada of the King's Theatre will easily supply appropriate words.
