At the Lyceum ' a new burlesque, called The Enchanted Forest,
has been produced. It is founded on The Chronicle of the Three Sisters; a tale which will be found in Musiius's collection, and which is popular in Ger- many, though not exceedingly well known in this country. It is not the best subject in the world for a drama; since each of the sisters being made to marry a prince, who is turned by enchantment into some animal, there is really no variety in their fortunes; and a sameness in the story is the necessary consequence. The piece is got up liberally, and decorated with scenes rather remarkable for finery than for finish; but it lacks two essential qualities of burlesque—pointed dialogue, and scope for broad comic acting. The audience, however, seem highly delighted, and on the first night called everybody that could be called, with the utmost enthu- siasm.
