The Holborn Borough Council began on Thursday an experiment which
we fancy is already being tried else- where in London and which may prove of capital importance. A section of Little Anne Street, W.C., is being paved with rubber blocks. The great advantage of rubber is its resiliency and silence. Sheet rubber was laid at the entrance of Euston Station twenty five years ago and is said to be still in good condition. That was a hard trial, and if the blocks do as well, they should not only kill noise, but should mitigate the intolerable inconvenience of the " Road Up For Repairs."
