" If we are told that the beginnings of co-operation
in defence must carry with them the beginnings of association in policy, then
I say that both in measures of defence and in the direction of policy the co-operation of the Dominions with the United King- dom will be of inestimable benefit to the strength of the Empire and to the general cause of peace."
That, of course, is a sentiment which will meet with universal approval. We have never doubted the willingness of the Dominions to do their share, but that renders our pride in their action and our gratitude none the less potent.
