From Miss B. Reid Sir: To my absolute horror I

have just discovered that all-time favourite piece of music, the final movement of Beethoven's 'Ninth Symphony,' the 'Ode to Joy,' is the official anthem of the EEC and I now find that every time I listen to it, which is often, my thoughts turn involuntarily to Edward Heath. I find this a most horrendous experience and I would be pleased if any other readers who suffer likewise could let me know what they do about it, so that I can live in peace with Beethoven. All answers will.be treated in strictest confidence.
